Golgotha's Battle Masters - Alternative Rules - Hobby Products Empires game

Herewith, an idea for alternative rules to substitute the original Battle Master rules. Use Hobby Products Empires game as a more complex version of Battle Masters that is still easy and quick.

See: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/23142/user-review

See: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/9467/empires

The rules can be found with army lists online.

Golgotha's Sci-Fi - Robogear T-Rex and Locust Mechs

Herewith, Tehnolog Robogear T-Rex and Locust. These are ideal for numerous Sci-Fi settings. Great as big stompy robot mech sort vehicles. In scale they match anything ranging from 25mm through to the new "giant" 40k. Judging by the miniature they come with they are around 1/48th in scale.

At any rate I managed to get two for under £10 with postage from Russia on ebay, very pleased. They will require a fair amount of work to get up to scratch. especially in terms of getting rid of join lines etc. but with a little bit of effort they can look rather good.

As can be seen from the above, these models provide numerous kit bashing options, for more on what this modeller did see: http://www.starshipmodeler.com/mecha/pl_robo.htm

For some inspiration - Watch:

For possible purchasing options direct from Russia see: https://souldark.ru/category/space-ships/

The Tehnolog Robogear range, see: http://www.tehnolog.ru/product/robogear.php

Tech sheets for each of their walking tanks, the write ups are rather fun, includes some good photos of painted miniatures, see: http://www.robogear.ru/eng/skelet/2/protectorat/index_t_rex.php

Do note that Airfix released these a number of years ago - but do not bother trying to find those as they tend to go for high collector prices.

For an overview of the game for which they are meant see: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/14398/robogear

Tehnolog also have the rules available to download here: http://www.tehnolog.ru/download/rules.php

At any rate here they are with painted new generation space marines from GW. Despite being unpainted they actually match the colouring of the space marines relatively well for now.

Herewith some pictures of them in the first game played. The idea behind this game is a future Mars Rebellion. Blue Marines are the forces of earth and Red Marines the Martians fighting for Marsian independence. Rules used were homebrew and I think I should type them up and share them here, as they worked rather well.

T-Rex ran around Bio-dome to blast away at a hiding enemy marine. The Bio-dome looked better than this picture did justice as it had a light shining inside it. It is from I believe a hamster ball. It seems hard to find see through domes suitable for this sort of Sci-Fi terrain.

Drone attack on the female Marsian Sergeant.

She landed up emptying an entire magazine on the drone to no effect. It hovered menacingly for a while rounds bouncing off its black hull it then opened up and blew the Sergeant to smithereens.

Some new Sci-Fi terrain I tried out. Some old toy things I found and sprayed silver with a wash.

Ultimately the Earthling forces won, which pleased me despite having played the Marsians against my two sons.

Golgotha's Sci-Fi - Star Wars Rules

Reasons not to purchase Legion

Reasons to purchase Imperial assault miniatures instead

What they look like painted https://azazelx.com/2018/11/05/star-wars-imperial-assault-at-dp-mechanical-november-18/ you can get the AT DP for as little as 7 pounds.

Use West End Games Star Wars Battle rules voted best game in 1991 and showing its age as a rule set but then Star Wars is likewise showing its age. Fair review here http://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2018/02/review-star-wars-miniature-battles-west.html

One would want all 3 books.

Golgotha's Games - Tank battles - VE Day

Herewith, some pictures of a game I played with both my sons and wife for VE day. Tried new initiative rules today which worked out relatively well. This was one of the first games my wife has had with me - hope it is not the last... Initially I thought the forest would hamper the Germans allowing the Soviets to over run their positions - alas this was simply not the case.

See: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=101948.2310

Absolute carnage was wrought on the advancing Soviet onslaught. As vehicle after vehicle became a burning wreck. Tea light candles with smoke adding a great effect.

The Germans in position and effectively camouflaged from the enemy.

Sadly the building got hit killing the innocent civilians and a pig hiding within.

This Tiger was very indecisive at one point and also had a rather unsuccessful reverse in attempt to find some cover.

Even less successful was this Tiger in that it got destroyed. It did however take out 5 Russian tanks - enough to help win this battle but I am afraid not the war.

Annoyingly a KV1 destroyed my Panzer III hiding in the woods.

Golgotha's Lord of the Rings - Some fellowship

Herewith, some of the key characters. These and a few others are still a work in progress, but sufficient for the table as it were.

See: https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Fellowship_of_the_Ring_(group)

See: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=124173.0

Golgotha's Lord of the Rings - Sauron

Herewith, an old GW Classic Sauron on throne. I do like the tentacles entwined around tortured souls. This miniature is certainly fun to paint. I still hope to do a more elaborate base with stairs and piles of skulls. These miniatures are hard to come by and go for a small fortune on ebay. I was lucky to pick mine up for next to nothing, years before Lord of the Rings was popularised by the movies.

Golgotha's Lord of the Rings - Moria Goblins and Cave Troll

Herewith, some Moria Goblins and Cave Troll.

See: https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Goblins

See: https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=124173.msg1568426#msg1568426

I am relatively happy with how these came out they do look rather terrifying with their beady little eyes.

Flag conversion. Rather happy with the skull above the flag. Made from green stuff.

Tried to give some variety in appearance and skin tone.

Top view giving an indication of numbers.

I an not particularly keen on these Trolls, nor do they look like Trolls in my mind.
