Strange Aeons Game

 Good skirmish horror narrative fun game will definitely be playing Strange Aeons again ideal for HP Lovecraft Cthulhu inspired games. Perfect game for Halloween and this time of year.  Scenario ideas below:





























Scenario: “Grave Secrets of Calvary Hill”


Setting: The heart of the city is built around Calvary Cemetery, a sprawling necropolis of crumbling mausoleums, wrought-iron fences, and overgrown paths. Gas lamps flicker in the mist. The surrounding blocks include tenements, a police precinct, and a shuttered church rumored to house forbidden rites.

Objectives

- Investigators: Locate and destroy the hidden reliquary buried in the cemetery before the cult completes their ritual.

- Cultists: Protect the reliquary and finish the summoning before dawn.

- Police NPCs: Patrol the area, react to gunfire or suspicious activity, and may assist or hinder either side depending on interactions.

Terrain Layout

Zone/Description

Calvary Hill Cemetery / Central terrain feature. Dense tombstones, mausoleums (blocking LoS), crypt entrances. Fog reduces visibility to 8". |

Precinct Station / Northeast corner. Police NPCs deploy from here. May call reinforcements if alarmed. |

Tenement Blocks | South and west edges. Provide cover and vertical access. Civilians may be present. 

Shuttered Church / East side. Possible cult hideout. Contains ritual circle and clues. 

Alleyways & Streets | Narrow paths, gas lamps, parked cars. Police patrol routes follow these.


NPC Police Mechanics

Deployment: 2–4 officers begin near the precinct. Additional units arrive if alarm is raised.

- Patrols: Move 6" per turn along designated routes. May investigate noise or visible combat.

- Interactions:

  - Investigators: May assist if shown credentials or persuaded (Willpower test).

  - Cultists: Treated as hostile. Police will attempt arrest or open fire.

- Stats: Moderate Shooting and Fighting, 2 Wounds, basic revolvers and batons.

- Alarm Triggers: Gunfire, dead bodies, magic use, or entering precinct/church.

 Encounter Hooks

- Fog of the Dead: Models in cemetery must roll Willpower or suffer -1 to all actions due to oppressive atmosphere.

- Crypt Entrances: May contain clues, traps, or undead guardians.

- Police Reinforcements: If alarm is raised, 1d3 officers arrive each turn from precinct.

- Madness Risk: Exposure to the reliquary’s aura.
